Quick Start Checklist

Launch your first Chatobserver workspace in less than 30 minutes. The platform turns strategic prompts into an always-on command center that tracks how AI search engines describe your brand, competitors, and category.

1. Create a workspace

  1. Visit app.chatobserver.com and create an account or accept an invite from a teammate.
  2. Give the workspace a name that matches your team or initiative. This name appears in the dashboard sidebar and in automated reports.
  3. Confirm your primary domain in Company → Domains. The domain anchors analytics verification and filters on the Sources tab.

Owners and admins can add additional domains later. Each workspace is isolated; prompts, runs, and analytics never leak across teams.

2. Add your first prompt

  1. Navigate to Prompts → Add prompt.
  2. Draft the instruction you want to monitor. Keep it audience-driven—e.g. “How would a growth leader evaluate Brand for enterprise rollouts?”
  3. Choose target platforms. Chatobserver currently supports ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. You can select multiple platforms per prompt.
  4. Pick a schedule. Daily, weekly, weekdays, custom days, interval, and manual cadences are available. The schedule determines when Chatobserver will refresh results automatically.
  5. (Optional) Attach personas or groups to help slice reporting later.

When you save, the prompt enters the queue. Active prompts consume analysis credits each time they run.

3. Install the analytics snippet

  1. On the Overview tab, open the “Analytics setup” card.
  2. Copy the project-specific snippet and paste it into the <head> of the site you want to track.
  3. Publish your changes and click Verify installation. Chatobserver checks for the script and confirms the active domain.
  4. Once verified, the Visitor analytics strip and AI Referrals tab begin populating with incoming sessions segmented by AI platform.

Skip this step if you only need prompt intelligence without on-site referral tracking. You can add the snippet at any time.

4. Review the initial data

  • Runs tab – Confirm that prompts are executing, view rendered markdown, and inspect any failures or credit holds.
  • Sources tab – See citations from recent AI answers, filter by prompt or domain, and jump into a prompt’s editor directly from the table.
  • Brand visibility – Track share-of-voice trends for your domains and top competitors over the last 30 days.
  • AI Referrals – Compare session volume from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and other channels once the analytics snippet is live.

5. Invite collaborators

Owners and admins can invite teammates from the Settings → People panel. Assign the right role:

  • Owner – Full billing and automation control
  • Admin – Manage prompts, runs, personas, and analytics
  • Member – View dashboards and manage the prompts they create
